Malaysia: 24-7 / 30 Day Prayer Watch – 24 April – 23 May 2026

What is unfolding in the Gulf right now is the largest oil supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. Here is what much of Western coverage has not highlighted: over 84% of all oil transiting the Strait of Hormuz flows to Asian markets. Asia imports around 57% of the world's oil. This is not a distant crisis for the region — it is arriving at Asian kitchen tables, petrol stations, farms and pharmacies right now.

Our Malaysian Prime Minister said publicly on April 9: "We are already in a crisis." Malaysia's supply is secured only until June. Our neighbours are already beyond that threshold — the Philippines has declared a national energy emergency; Thailand's diesel has nearly doubled; Indonesia, Vietnam and Pakistan each have roughly 20 days of reserves or less; Bangladesh has closed universities and placed the military in charge of oil depots.

The poor and the most invisible workers — day labourers, hawkers, delivery riders, undocumented migrants — are losing income first. The burden, as always, falls heaviest on those with the least buffer.

This is the context in which the church in Asia is being called to pray.

What 24-7 Prayer Asia is doing:

We have launched a 30-Day Prayer Watch for Malaysia and the Nations — 24 April to 23 May 2026. One nation or region is assigned to each of the 24 hours of the day, so that every hour, around the clock, is covered by a dedicated intercessor. The warring Gulf nations hold the night watch. Malaysia holds the 12 noon hour, praying the Lord's Prayer over our nation at the meridian of the day. Together, 168 intercessors cover every hour with no gap.

We have just published the latest weekly Malaysian multilingual prayer guide — with crisis-specific intercession structured around the 7 P's: People, Pastors, Pillars of Society, Politicians, Powers, Poor & Provision, and Peace & Proclamation.

Our invitation to you:

Would you also pray for your nation and other Asian nations — and share this update with your respective denominational, church and prayer networks across your nation? We would be glad for the whole Asian church to know what is happening, and to join the watch if they feel led instead of complaining or worrying.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. Asia is on the front line — and the church must not be found sleeping at this watch. Our prayer is that the Malaysian Church will rise up as A (oneness and unity) House of Prayer for the Nations for such a time as this.

In Christ,

Chrisanne
